Passionate about plankton...
It is a long walk down, but well worth it. This event is great for those who want to learn more about plankton - or just to see it close up!! The event starts with a chat about what plankton is, and why it is soooooo important. ‘Nets’ are then made from drink bottles, stockings/tights, a metal hoop, elastic band and some tape to secure. These nets are then taken down to the sea and used to catch plankton. The plankton is collected in a bucket or two and taken back to the Marine Centre, where it is viewed under microscopes....... before being released back into the sea.
